St. Louis Zoo

Monday, July 14th, 2008

The St. Louis zoo is one of the top zoos in the nation. As a bonus, it is free…there is even some free parking, but it is hard to find on busy days. The petting zoo cost a little bit too. This zoo is one of the best kid fun destinations in all of St. Louis. Lots to see, with upgraded and new exhibits being added regularly. My family loves the penguin house and the monkey house, of course.

Six Flags Texas

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Great place to go and hangout for the day for some cool roller coasters and some cool splashes of water from the “roaring rapids or log ride”. Everyone from kids to adults enjoy this place.

Lake Farmpark

Monday, July 14th, 2008

A fun place to take the kids where they can learn about cows and have a chance to milk one. You can also watch a sheep dog round up sheep, take a pony ride, hop on a horse drawn carriage to visit chickens, lammas, pigs, horses, sheep and other various animals.

The park is home to a number of events each year including wine festivals, folk music and art festivals, and holiday lights.

What’s there:

  • Park store for gifts
  • Demonstrations:
    • hand milking
    • shepherding
    • maple syrup making
    • honey gathering
    • Working dog weekend
    • Check the website calendar!!!
  • Fifty breeds of livestock!
  • Country Lights…decked out in holiday lights
  • Hay rides
  • And more…

Ted Drewes Frozen Custard

Monday, July 14th, 2008

A landmark in St. Louis. They serve great frozen custard (a lot like ice cream). Lines are dauntingly long, but they move incredibly fast…don’t be fooled! This is a must see site when in St. Louis. The Chippewa location is bigger and open for more of the year…but it’s all the same custard!
